Red-tailed Bumblebee

Not great pics (especially compared with Oliver's amazing photos of the Swallowtail caterpillar) but it is a beautiful creature with an arrestingly fiery tail.
This is the female red-tailed bumblebee, Bombus lapidarius. Unfortunately she's a dead one, found outside the back door. Easier to pose when dead, so you might have expected a better effort, but I was in a hurry. Note the 'mid-length proboscis'.
