Sowbread

Out beneath a hedgerow near you, this was a familiar pot plant in my house when I was growing up: Sowbread or Cyclamen, Cyclamen hederifolium. The house variety would be bred for show but the wild plant is now widely naturalised in the UK. Like crocuses, they have a corm not a bulb.
